Changes to Yacht Charter Directory

Posted by Simon Brandon in Blog

The observant among you may notice that I have made a few changes - some major and some minor. I guess the most significant change is that I have now made the directory free to advertise on. The take-up for a paid site was, let's face it, not great. As a result, I will have to find other ways of making some money to support the site. Probably advertising, although I have always resisted this previously. There is an almost invisible change in the regisatration system that will hopefully make life easier for people signing up. The final changes are cosmetic - a lightly more sea-like background to the page and a bit of unecessary spacing cut out. As always, any coments are really gladly received, so keep them coming in!

Weather for Sailing

Posted by Simon Brandon in Blog

It's an old teaser - what sort of weather do you want when you charter a yacht and go off on a sailing trip. The traditional "nice day" is a light breeze and plenty of unbroken sunshine. You can relax and top up your tan.

Yacht Charter Tricks and Tips

A few people have suggested that I include advice on the site about chartering a yacht. What should they look for? Where is good to go? How do they know a yacht is OK?

Why My Boat Charter?

Posted by Simon Brandon in Blog

A lot have people have asked me what the difference is between My Boat Charter and a normal yacht charter agency. The difference is that we take no commission and all communication is done directly with the yacht owner/operator.

Take an example: a group of friends want to charter a yacht for their holiday sailing in the UK. They use our search facility to find the boat with the perfect specifications for them. They fill in the "Make an Enquiry" form and then wait for the charter company to get back to them. All communication is done direct.

From time to time we get asked to link to other sites, which we are always happy to do - as long as the link is reciprocal.

Simple to Use

The mantra of Steve Jobs at Apple Computers has always been: "Can we make it more intuitive?" They seem to do a pretty good job (pardon the pun) as the iPod is clearly the easiest to use gadget out there.

Distractions

So many other things seem to get in the way of getting this site off the ground, but I think it is finally getting there.

Purpose of the Site

Posted by Simon Brandon in Blog

You may be thinking, why on Earth did I decide to create this website? Surely there are loads of sailing websites out there where you can find a yacht to charter?

Well, yes there are loads of yacht charter sites - thousands of companies worldwide and a fair few directories. What I have found though, is that there is no quick way to just find a boat to charter.
